JOURNEY TO PRIME MINISTERSHIP - NARENDRA MODI (PART - 1)

BJP had already won half the battle by nominating Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate because his candidature passed the very test which the voters expected him to. He was successful in convincing voters from every sect, religion and region that he was the only one who could fulfil the dream of a prosperous 21st century for INDIA through his agenda for progress, through his departure from sectorial politics, rock-solid leadership and results orientation. This was the reason why BJP got support from every nook and corner of the country. The support might have been of varying degree and proportion but they got the support in one form or the other.

All parties including CONGRESS kept reiterating about secularism but contrary to this. MODI won the confidence and caught the imagination of young voters by speaking about employment, progress of the nation, infrastructure growth, eradication of corruption and many similar serious issues which touched their lives. He made it clear to the voters that the opposition parties were misguiding them by alternatively talking about poverty eradication or saving the secular fabric of INDIA thus running away from real issues facing the nation. BJP had taken the right decision regarding the poll alliances. In 2004, BJP had lost the elections because they sought allaince from TRINAMUL CONGRESS, TELUGU DESAM PARTY,  JDU, SHIV SENA, AKALI DAL and AIDMK and some more which made them repent at a later stage. The number of candidates from BJP had dropped considerably. They learnt a lesson from this and collaborated with 24 parties and under the leadership of MODI, restructured the NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE (NDA).
